Le Burundi examine les possibilités d’octroyer trois permis de recherche du nickel à une société canadienne

Le gouvernement du Burundi a entamé mercredi l’examen des possibilités d’octroyer trois permis de recherche du nickel à une société canadienne enregistrée au Burundi.

Selon un communiqué publié mercredi par le conseil des ministres, c’est la société CVMR® Energy Metals Burundi SURL qui serait bénéficiaire de ces octrois pour le nickel et les minerais associés et opérerait sur les périmètres de Waga et de Nyabikere de la province de Gitega, au centre du pays, ainsi que le Fer-Titane-Vandium Nickel sur le périmètre de Mukanda en province de Gitega aussi.

Le Burundi possède un potentiel minier très riche qui n’est pas encore suffisamment exploité, sauf pour le cas de l’or du site de Cimba en commune de Mabayi de la province de Cibitoke à l’ouest du pays où le chef de l’Etat burundais a procédé lui-même le 31 octobre dernier au lancement de l’exploitation industrielle de ce site par une société internationale dénommée Tanganyika Gold SA.

C’est aussi le cas d’un gisement de terres rares de Gakara de la commune Mutambu en province de Bujumbura dite rurale avec des prospections chiffrées à 256.000 tonnes selon le deuxième vice-président de la République, Joseph Butore.

L’exploitation de ce gisement a été lancée officiellement sous le haut patronage du président de la République vers la fin du mois de juillet 2017.
